Located above the famous pub, with the same name in Acton, the Windmill hostel caters to anyone
looking to visit the suburban areas of London. It is at least forty minutes from Central London,
and offers accommodation in Twin or Double rooms, or three bed dorms.
The hostel is located on Acton High Street, which is in West London, with the nearest subway station
being Acton Town. One of the unique features of this hostel is its location, and it makes it the
perfect place for visitors wanting to experience “Small Town London”. Meals can be purchased from the pub downstairs.
What’s Good:
The best advantage to staying at the Windmill is the price. The rate is quite affordable compared to a
standard room at other hostels. The rooms are furnished in a basic manner, and combined with the price
of food in the pub your stay here could be cheaper than most people will pay to visit London. Access
to the subway station allows you to connect to Central London and Heathrow Airport.
What’s Not So Good:
The hostel is not located in a trendy part of London, so someone traveling alone at night might feel
uncomfortable. It is accessible by the subway, but there is at least a ten minutes walk, or it will be
necessary to catch a bus. Therefore, the money saved in living away from Central London, can soon be
eaten up by transportation costs.
There are also no lockers located in the rooms. The hostel does not provide a self-catering kitchen,
so all meals will have to be purchased at the pub downstairs, or at restaurants on the local Acton High
Street. This can become expensive if you are planning an extended stay.
