PODS – Portable On Demand Storage

March 22nd, 2010 No comments

Established in 1998, PODS is reinventing the moving and storage industry by making moving and storage more convenient and less stressful. Plus, they think you should be able to move or store your things without worrying about getting them back damaged.

So whether you are moving or storing personal belongings or business equipment, PODS have the right answer for you.”

There are many benefits to using PODS when moving. One of my favorite being that you get to move on your time. Since they can drop off a POD in advance of your move date, you have the ability to pack as you go with little or no rush at all.

Another great reason why PODS are genius is that they allow you to avoid having to use a rental van. I know a young couple who are moving due to the economy. Their choice was to use PODS so that they wouldn’t have to get a moving van. Their decision allowed them to drive the whole way together in their minivan. This significantly reduced the amount of gas for the trip and gave their children memories of the great family road trip.

If you are seeking to relocate, be sure to check out our page on RX Housing, a relocation company that makes the process a bit more enjoyable.

PODS are appearing all over America as the affordable and convenient way to move or relocate. To look into a pod for your self, go to their website at PODS

The Job Hunt

March 22nd, 2010 1 comment

In this day and age, it is not uncommon to be on the prowl when it comes to finding a job. Whether you are employed and

looking for the next big thing or are unemployed and looking for anything at all, there are many unknown tips and

tricks that will make the search more successful. My goal for this page is to summarize my research from when I was

between jobs and to add to it as my friends and family transition between careers.

What are my search options?

There are countless job board websites

out there. The trick is to find the one that your potential company is using. Some job boards are going to be industry

specific, while others will try to be generalists and all inclusive (which often means sorting through a lot of junk

job posts). Many companies are turning towards the trend of posting job listings directly on their website. All of

these methods can result in a qualified job lead.  Some of them will even send you email notification when new

jobs meeting your criteria are posted.  Just be sure to look around because all of these sites will offer

something different. For example, iMatchSkills,

Oregon’s job search tool is skill based. When you are done here, you should check out our page on Common Job Interview Questions

Finding work abroad

I know a small handful of people who gave up looking for work locally and decided to travel the world instead. They

did this by aquiring a TEFL certificate so that they could teach English as a second language throughout the world. So

far they have really been enjoying the experience. For further details on how my friends went about it, check out the

following on how to Teach English overseas.

Taekwondo – Kicking Drills

March 22nd, 2010 No comments

Taekwondo translates as the way of hand and foot, but is more than mere kicking and punching It is more than fighting and competition. It is more than a sport It is a culture, a way of life It is a set of virtues and tenents.

Many aspects of taekwondo can be learned alone, however to realize a true understanding, one must train with others Only through an established dojang will a student truly grasp the culture and virtues that are passed on rom teacher to student.

Of course to earn a black belt takes more then attending classes regularly It requires practice and dedication. It requires perserverance and continual study.

Over time I will be using this page as a notebook of some of my training excersises I will write about techniques and methods that I have learned from years of practice. My hope is to share my knowledge and help those who are dedicated to the art and science of the martial way.

I will start of with some basic drills. These where taught to me by a quest instructor at my school, Jihea, I believe she had experience with the Korean national team Do these daily with full intensity and you will be well on your way.

Basic Kicks

Perform each excerice 10 times moving forward taking a step with each strike.  Then repeat the drill Moving backwards once again taking a step back each time.

  1. Front kick
  2. Roundhouse kick
  3. Roundhouse high
  4. Back kick
  5. 360 deg Roundhouse
  6. Punch
  7. Double roundhouse kick (Air)
  8. Shuffle double roundhouse kick
  9. Front hook kick
  10. Spin hook kick
  11. Axe kick

Running Kicks

While the above drills should be performed walking distinctly one action at a time, this drill is intended to cover some ground.  Once again 10 forward and 10 back each.

  1. Roundhouse kick
  2. Shuffle roundhouse
  3. One-step roundhouse
  4. Back kick
  5. 360 deg roundhouse
  6. Punch
  7. Double roundhouse
  8. Shuffle double roundhouse
  9. Spin hook kick
  10. Shuffle axe kick
